WhatIsGeotech.org was created for ISSMGE (The International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering) – Public Relations Committee, as an outreach to the geoprofession. It aims to explain to the visitor what geotechnical engineering is, and what geotechnical engineers do, as well as how they contribute to our lives and the society. It focuses on the main areas of geotechnical engineering, such as soil mechanics, rock mechanics and deep foundations, defines them, and provides contact information for technical committees of ISSMGE focusing on each geotechnical engineering area, as well as contact information for each country- member of the ISSMGE in an interactive worldwide map. It also provides related useful website URL’s and an overall video defining geotechnical engineering.
WhatIsGeotech.org was created to define and promote geotechnical engineering to the broad audience in a clear way, while emphasis was given on the design of the website. The request was for an only 1- page website, attractive to the broad public. Click to view the website live!
