A new ASCE Geotechnical Publication has just been released. Here in ARGO-E GROUP, we had the pleasure of having two of our members, Prof. Dimitrios Zekkos and John Manousakis, Geomatics Engineer, co-author this special publication on the Edenville and Sanford dam failures in Michigan in May 2020.

This newest publication, Edenville and Sanford Dam Failures: Field Reconnaissance Report, presents the results of on-ground and aerial assessments that took place in the weeks following the catastrophic events.

We did multiframe video image analysis of Edenville Dam failure location to understand failure mechanism and simulate failure deformation.

We used Lidar and UAV spatial products for pre-post failure 2D/3D comparisons and qualitative assessment.

We use digital image analysis, UAV optical and infrared imagery, to characterize exposed dam sections and to discern the differences in the earth dam embankment materials.
